Focus: The 46th annual Adams Morgan Day Festival returns this year, with an exciting line-up featuring live music, dance, as well as family and children’s activities,  “Artisan Stroll” with vendors at Marie Reed Elementary School, local food and beverage specials, history and culture activities throughout the neighborhood, and more!

THE 46th ANNUAL ADAMS MORGAN DAY

Community Engagement Celebrating Global Cultures

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th

12:00 pm  – 7:00 pm

WASHINGTON, DC September 8, 2024 – Adams Morgan Day, the DC area’s longest-running and most talked about multicultural festival, returns for its 46th year. Always held the second Sunday in September, the Adams Morgan Day Festival organizers are returning with a family-friendly, fun, free event.  Some highlights of The Adams Morgan Day Festival include a performance by the legendary “Blackbyrds”, hosted by renowned screenwriter and director Topper Carew, the creator of “Martin”, the return of our Community History on 18th Street, Marie Reed School.   Enjoy the “New Thing” exhibit organized by students from Jackson-Reed High School at American University’s Humanities Truck, where visitors can learn about “The New Perspectives on the New Thing: A Photography Exhibition documenting DC’s Revolutionary Community Arts Center 1966-1972”. Exploring local and international cultures, a unique collection of acts, specialty vendors, our music stage, dance platform and children’s fair will also be featured. Festival Director Cheryl Cee-Cee Hardy says “It’s a day when all cultures unite celebrating and embracing the vitality and uniqueness of the community.” 

First held in 1978, this regional festival celebrates diverse cultures and creativity arising from the diversity of the Adams Morgan neighborhood.  The Festival will be spread out across the neighborhood with art and activities at Marie Reed Plaza, Kalorama Park,  and 18th Street,

The Adams Morgan Day Festival, organized by the Adams Morgan Community Alliance, a group of volunteers and neighbors,  which was formed in July 2016. An umbrella, non-profit, working to retain and promote the unique, vibrant character of the Adams Morgan business district area as well as continuing the tradition of the community festival celebration.

Paint your story! Color your community by participating in our “Community Interactive Expressive Mural”which will be located at Marie Reed School.  Let your imagination run wild as you engage in the painting of the Adams Morgan Day skyline

Take a walk along “Artisan Stroll” where local craftspeople and retail booths will line the upper level of Marie Reed School Plaza located on 18th Street at the intersection of Wyoming Street. The very best will be showcased, offering international specialty items, arts and crafts, jewelry, clothes, and hand-made goods. 

The interactive Dance Plaza, hosted by Cheryl “Cee-Cee” Hardy, Festival Director, is where you will go on an international journey of dance, fashion, and culture with an explosive lineup of dance groups that will perform and teach basic dance moves, allowing the audience to join along.  Displaying the art of drumming and dancing, the renowned Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers will be present with their traditional honor of the African culture, with performances by the DC Casineros, and the Cuban Son Band, as well as witnessing the fancy dance moves of the Go-Go Fitness dance/exercise troop , all are sure to please the crowd!

Corinto Commanders Collaboration  for 2024 Official NFL Apparel is available in the Oxon Hill gallery located at the National Harbor as well as on-line. Multi-media artist Josue Martinez the owner, designer, and artist of all designs at Corinto Gallery, makes and provides art for the people. His beautifully curated pieces can be seen almost daily around the DMV

The Volo City Kids Zone is both fun and educational.  Full of games and educational activities, it boasts a soccer and flag football clinic, as well as on-site workshops. The Volo City Kids Zone will be located at Marie Reed School, Basketball Court , 18th Street at the intersection of Wyoming Street.  

Live music will resound from the stage at Kalorama Park as we present “Melodies at Kalorama Park” hosted by DJ Qhill, https://www.qhillbeats.com  Sit back, relax, and take in the smooth tunes by some of our local performers. You will experience a diverse line-up to include, Reggae, Pop Culture and Progressive Soul.. This segment will run between 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  Kalorama Park is located at the intersection of Kalorama Road and Columbia Road.

The majority of local businesses will remain open and offer festival discounts, on-line and in-person.  Most discounts can be found on-line.  On the day of, some businesses will host bands and family activities. Check the website for scheduling

The streets will remain open .
